About Design Key
Our story
Design Key started in 2022, after Daniel spent fifteen years building software inside other companies and watching the same failure repeat. Clients got exactly the build they asked for, which is not the same as getting a product that works.
We are a team of thirty across design, engineering, and strategy. Some clients bring us a product to build from nothing. Others bring us one that already carries their business and has to keep carrying it while it changes.
Either way the rule is the same. We give you the honest version first, including when the honest version is that you should not build the thing you came to build.
About the founder
Daniel Killyevo founded Design Key in Tampa in 2022. He wrote his first line of code at 15, holds a master's degree in computer science, and has spent more than fifteen years building software, first inside other companies and now with a team of thirty.
Before Design Key he worked at Ciklum, at Corrigo before Terminix acquired it, and at JustEat, delivering more than 50 web and mobile products along the way. His own work centres on architecting cloud systems, API and data integration, and building engineering teams.
That range is why Design Key takes the shape it does. He has watched too many clients get exactly the build they asked for and not the product they needed, and the studio is built to say that difference out loud, even when saying it costs the project.
