Brett Husak is an entrepreneur, advisor, and financier whose career spans technology ventures, finance, and high-risk industries. Over the course of that career he had accumulated a meaningful body of work - advisory relationships, deal experience, published perspectives on capital markets - but no single place where a prospective partner, investor, or client could get a clear picture of who he is and what he has done.

/context

The problem Brett faced was common among senior professionals who have built their reputation through relationships rather than public presence: the work exists, but it is not legible online. A LinkedIn profile covers the basics, but it doesn't give anyone the room to understand your particular angle on an industry, the texture of your past projects, or why they should specifically want to work with you rather than the fifty other people with similar credentials.

Objectives

Professional Visual Identity

Design a visual identity that feels earned rather than assembled - one that reads as authoritative to finance and technology audiences without borrowing visual clichés from either sector.

Content Strategy

Structure Brett's body of work into a coherent narrative. Projects, advisory roles, and published perspectives needed to be organized so visitors could understand his arc quickly and then go deeper on what's relevant to them.

Responsive Design

The site needed to perform well on mobile because a meaningful portion of Brett's audience encounters his work through shared links on phones - not only on desktop during deliberate research sessions.

/process

Strategic Planning and Content Architecture

The first step was a structured content audit with Brett. We went through his career history, active advisory relationships, published writing, and the types of conversations he most wanted the website to generate. From that conversation, a content hierarchy emerged: the homepage needed to establish his positioning and invite deeper exploration; the projects section needed enough detail to demonstrate real involvement, not just name-dropping; the thought leadership section needed to feel like an active voice, not an archive.

Visual Design

The visual direction needed to convey seriousness without austerity and ambition without overselling. We developed a design system in Figma around a restrained color palette, strong typographic hierarchy, and generous whitespace - all of which signal confidence to the finance and technology audiences Brett is speaking to. The design avoids the dark-mode minimalism that has become generic in the tech space and the heavy serif treatment common in traditional finance, landing instead on something that feels contemporary and specific.

Development and Content Integration

With the design approved in Figma, development in Wix focused on fidelity to the design system and clean content management. The thought leadership section was structured as a proper CMS collection so Brett can publish new pieces directly without touching layout code. The project showcases use a detail view pattern that lets him expand descriptions and add case material over time as projects develop.

/key features & innovations

Positioning-Led Homepage

The homepage opens with Brett's positioning statement rather than a job title or credentials list. Visitors understand what he does and who he does it for within the first scroll, which reduces bounce and orients the rest of the site visit.

Project Showcase with Expandable Detail

Each featured project has a summary view and an expanded detail view with more context on Brett's specific role, the outcomes, and the relevant industry. This two-level structure serves both visitors who are scanning and those who are doing deeper research before reaching out.

Thought Leadership Section

Brett's published writing and perspectives are surfaced as a content stream with category filters. The design presents articles as part of an active voice rather than a static archive - dates, context notes, and consistent formatting signal that the section is maintained and worth reading.

Testimonial Integration

Client and partner testimonials appear in context - near the projects and advisory content they relate to - rather than collected into a standalone "what people say" page that reads as self-promotional. Placement in context makes testimonials read as evidence rather than marketing.

Responsive Design

The mobile layout was treated as a primary deliverable, not an afterthought. Navigation, portrait photography, and the projects section all adapt to small screens with dedicated layout decisions rather than generic responsive collapse behavior.

Self-Service Content Management

Brett can update his thought leadership section, add new projects, and edit testimonials without technical support. The CMS structure in Wix was configured specifically for his update patterns.

/challenges & solutions

Establishing a Clear Positioning Without Narrowing Too Much

The challenge with a career that crosses multiple sectors is that it can read as unfocused unless the narrative is intentionally constructed. Generic personal websites often list everything and let visitors draw their own conclusions. The risk is that they draw no conclusion at all and leave.

Balancing Credibility and Approachability

A common failure mode for finance-sector personal sites is that they optimize so hard for seriousness that they become cold. The challenge was communicating authority without removing the human element that makes someone want to reach out.

/result & impact

Enhanced Digital Presence

The website replaced a minimal LinkedIn-only presence with a platform Brett can control and direct. Within the first weeks after launch, he was sending the URL in introductory emails as context before meetings - something he hadn't been able to do before. The site became a working tool in his business development process rather than a static credential.

Increased Engagement

Visitor behavior showed meaningful engagement with the projects section and thought leadership content - the two areas designed to demonstrate depth beyond a resume summary. Time-on-site metrics and return visits suggested the site was pulling people in rather than just confirming that Brett exists.

Strengthened Industry Reputation

The site gave Brett's existing reputation a place to land online. Partners and contacts who knew him through relationships reported that the website gave them useful language to describe what he does to others - which extended his reach through referrals in a way that a bare LinkedIn profile doesn't support.

/future projections and strategic growth

Strategic Roadmap

The thought leadership section is designed to grow over time. As Brett publishes more perspectives, the content stream builds topical depth and gives the site increasing reason for repeat visits from his professional network. The CMS structure accommodates video, long-form essays, and shorter market commentary without layout changes.

Scalability Plan

The Wix infrastructure scales with traffic and the design system is documented well enough that expanding the site - adding new project types, an events or speaking section, or a newsletter sign-up - can happen without rebuilding from scratch.

/conclusion

A personal website succeeds when it does something specific: it changes how visitors think about you in the time they spend there, and it gives them a clear reason to take the next step. The Brett Husak site was designed around that standard rather than around the convention of what personal websites typically include. Every section was included because it moved his audience toward a meaningful conclusion. The sections that would have been filler were left out. The result is a site that works as an active business development asset rather than a professional obligation.
